Which PC should I build?

My computer currently is due for an upgrade. I'm looking at building a new one and I've only purchased 16GB DDR4 RAM so far, so I'm not trapped in a build just yet.

I've been contemplating on which route to take. I'm stuck between a i7 8700 build vs a Ryzen 5 2600 vs a Ryzen 7 2700X build. Here are my two pcpartpicker builds. If I was to go with a R5 2600, I'd just swap it out with the R7 2700X in the build list.

Ryzen:
Intel 8700:

What're your suggestions? I'm not trying to max this out, it's more-so a budget build - sort of? The most I'm doing is probably playing some steam games or some light weight video editing/rendering in Sony Vegas.

Go with the Ryzen 7 2700x as it has the same performance as I7-8700k in gaming and it DESTROYS whatever other Intel CPU you throw at it in multitasking lol
Why not get the Firecuda instead of Barracuda?

That's what I was saying and everyone on reddit bashed me for it by saying "iNtEl DeStRoYs AmD". I meant to change it to a Firecuda, I'm told it's an SSHD, which is faster?

"2700x as it has the same performance as I7-8700k in gaming" is a tad misleading, an 8700k will always perform better at 1080p and generally has better frame times and average frame rates. It's only at 1440p and beyond where the GPU becomes the bottleneck where they match each other in terms of average FPS. tl;dr for gaming an 8700k will perform better, for multitasking a 2700x is a better choice.

I would wait for the new 7nm AMD CPU's dropping this year if I were you. :D

Hey,

I did some rearranging, I got the Ryzen 7 1700 instead of the 2600X. For what I do it wasn't worth spending the extra $200+, I got the Ryzen 7 1700 at $199 CAD on sale. Anywho, I bought the CPU, SSD, 16GB DDR4. I still have time to upgrade some things such as my MOBO.

So without rambling on anymore, any suggestions on which to change?

You might aswell get the 1660 Ti.
It's only $30 more but SO MUCH better than the 1060
