What is music to you?

Right so recently I've been hearing and seeing say things like "a singer isn't a musician because they aren't playing an instrument" or "rap isn't music because it takes no skill." And I'm curious as to what you guys think. I think singing and rap is music. Singing requires a voice that's harmonic and that people actually want to listen to. And hip hop requires lyricism with metaphors and a flow that can go with a beat produced. Music production to me doesn't have to be with actual instruments, and I've seen music production and it's not easy. And let's remember that hip hop artist write their own lyrics so, they rely on spoken word over a beat with wordplay that they deem clever and that tells a story.
