READ POST #17

Hello,

I am currently looking for beta testers and possibly staff members for my upcoming website, a site where you can upload, share and download all sorts of files.

All beta testers will receive the following:
  • 1.5 GB Storage.
  • A further of 6GB (or more) storage upon public release.
  • Ability to upload images, audio files, video files, text files, archives and other formats.
  • Ability to create unlimited folders and manage them.
Normal rules apply - no uploading porn, illegal files, pirated files or questionable content.
Beta testers are expected to support the website by using it as their primary/main source of upload and sharing files on the internet. This does not mean that you cannot use other services.
Beta testers are expected to report back on bugs, suggestions and give feedback when they can.
While I'm not looking for staff at this point of time, if you are interested and think you would be a great help in terms of administration, moderation or a graphics designer/developer, you may private message me and register your interest and I'll take it into consideration.
Donations are also accepted through Paypal which anyone can donate by private messaging me. A donation form will be put up on the website later on. The website link will be announced later on before it is released to give a brief overview of the website and for funding purposes.
People who are interested in being a beta tester can private message me or drop a message below. Beta testers will be randomly selected. Limited spots open. Beta testers are recommended to have Skype for ease of communication.

Is it like dropbox where you shove it in a folder and it uploads or like MEGA where we have to do it via website?
Depending on how it's setup, I'd use it.

Never used Mega or Dropbox so I don't know what they're like.

You do it via a website and when you login, the navigation is sorted into different sections such as "All, Music, Videos, Images", etc. The home will be "All". There is an "Upload" button which lets you upload files and the uploaded file will go in "All" and it will also go under the section which is its intended filetype. For example, a .jpg file will end up under "Images". The navigation and pages are powered by Ajax and Jquery which loads pages fast instead of having to load each page as if you were browsing through pages on DevBest.

You can create your own folders which doesn't go in the navigation. You can then put files in certain folders. Folders can be bought up with a push of a button.

Alright, then after you upload a file can you generate a link to the file in order to share it with others?

Yes, it will automatically generate a bit.ly link. You can password protect the file which will mean only the people who have the password can download it and you can also see how many views it has received. Files can also be deleted by a push of a button securely.

I'm going off now. This opportunity for beta testers will be open for 16 or so more hours.

Ok so I've removed the "Images, Audios, Videos, Other" sections as they were causing a bit of trouble. Now when you log-in you'll be straight up bought to all your files on one page.

I've decided to no longer continue this file uploader because of security issues, etc.

Instead, I have decided to code my own image uploader which will go under the same name as this project - just a different service. People will be able to upload images on most formats.

More information on this will come soon.
