xampp mysql connect error

I am trying to set op a test machine to develop some stuff.. only I get this message;

You must be registered for see links

I am using Xampp 3.2.4, normally it should work fine but it doesn't work.

I've noticed this error came up when my cms didn't work with the provided DB, maybe check into that

Use Mysqli instead of Mysql.

your php version is too new since mysql_* has been removed from php 7+
you need php 5.3

Ah I see. Is this something I can change in xampp? :-$ I didn't work with that before. I need to clear things up first before moving to IIS.

This question as well as the original question are easily answered through a simple Google search. Please do a little bit of research before posting here - in most cases that will also be a lot faster than getting help here.

as far as i know you need to download and install an older xampp version. on the xampp download page you can see which php version it uses
