Looks pretty good for you first template! It could use a better text, in my opinion. The top navigation bar would also look better if it were the actual size of the template. Other than that, it's very good for your first template.

I see you have now corrected the text but you should add some padding on the right of your main content area. Hope this helps and I love the intro by the way.
