The best ore is Iron, it's everywhere, it can mine nearly everything and you can make tools that will last a considerably decent time, and craft armour that will save your life.

For me it's diamond vs iron but can't mine diamond without iron so iron wins

Start with iron or stone, then mine for diamond since diamond actually is the strongest (To fight/mine/woodcut with), Bedrock is strongest to build with hihi
