Vista! HELP

Yesterday I was updating my shockwave, then it was about half way done. A windows update started automatically.
This morning it was on stage 3 99%.
It keeps shutting down and starts at stage 3 and gets to 99% and restarts,
What should I do?

Try using Ubuntu or some sort of Linux platform since it's free other then that you could take it to a shop to get it fixed.

Before, I called Microsoft and one of there technicians helped me.
I was getting local Internet only.
So we re-installed vista, which took nearly 6 hours.

Well, if it was before the error, try again by reinstalling Vista and/or go to Best Buy/Walmart and buy a used Win7 disk.
