Trying to make a signature

I've been looking through the graphic section, and saw many people were posting signature, so I tried it myself. I'm not the greatest at this kind of thing, and I'm not using the greatest software . Heres the result;

Signatures are really easy to make with a render rather than a blank canvas. It's not bad, but it's looks like you just slapped blending effects onto some text.

I'm not sure if you will be able to tell a difference, but do you mean this?;

When I saved the flattened version I never took out the background layer. (I'm not familiar with terms either )
