PC Server Help - Ranking

I opened a minecraft server up and have to run it off the orignal/offical server not the bukkit server and i tried ranking myself but it would not work? does ranking not work on offical servers or somethign?? using the mcmyadmin panel thing.

All you do is /op [username] in the console

O alright cause there was something called ranks/players or something like that and i put my name next to the admin one and it didn't work. Thanks man
