Hi people, this is a new project I have started and do plan on finishing, I just wanted to share with the rest of you for critique & suggestions.

I have used bootstrap, the reason for this is it was "easier" and faster, also with my current knowledge without it I don't think I would've made it to this stage, there is an avatar-image that goes on top of the stand.

I removed avatar-image for the purpose of the video because I am having an issue with it's margin. Honestly, I am kind of winging this right now, throwing bits and pieces together - however I do plan to overhaul my ideas and modernize the entire site whilst I make progress.


I will update again when I have added more pages, this is just a quick look!

What I hope to achieve by the end of this:

• A modern, sleek theme that works just as well in both light & dark mode.
• Working badge uploader.
• Working roomad uploader.
• Real-time translation
• live-feed to update in real-time.
  
  When the time is right, the design is complete and I am happy with it, I will begin to worry about the back-end side of things, however until then I am going to continue to work on front-end until I am 100% happy with it, I don't plan to rush as I am learning as I go, but this is definitely a good start for me. Suggestions for which back-end to use & why would also be greatly appreciated.
  
  
  I have no problem with either OrionCMS or AtomCMS, however I hope to pull away from both of these designs, reason for this is that they're used everywhere today (again nothing wrong with that.) just I want to do something different, which will hopefully create some excitement in the community when this is finished.
  
  Constructive criticism and feedback welcome of course, I am still learning to design, be nice. All suggestions will be taken from this thread and considered.

A good idea for sure, I don't know why I didn't think of doing that! It's just another project to help me help myself.

I did see you being harshly critical of a new hotel in the advertisement threads which brought me to look to see if you had any work on the Forums, I came across this thought how ironic it was that you could be so critical of someone else's project who's in early beta stages. You gave such an opinionated point of view as if you're any better or know what's best when your project isn't even up to standards before posting it out to the community to receive more productive feedback. Instead, I'm having to point out common sense improvements that should've been done already. It's rather basic to me and reminds me of a fansite from the early Habbo Days.

I don't play Habbo Retros, I'm an ex-player from 2013 and haven't played since the early years.
I've found the time to kindly detail out improvements you could make that would help your project look more professional, as you should know best small detail is key to showing you're serious about your project it should be the first things considered when displaying your work to make sure you've taken the small details into mind before showing off your work.

Again, incorrect.

I was talking with their developer on Discord after my comments, which he'd read and then after decided after to add me so we could speak. He informed that one of the issues I pointed out was due to a responsiveness issue, he hadn't added responsiveness for a particular display.

It seems that you are not using Bootstrap (I assume you are still using it) properly. Otherwise, these issues that @LocalDemon mentioned probably wouldn't be happening. I suspect you are using custom boxes and/or custom paddings. Try to avoid that if you're using a CSS framework like Bootstrap. For element alignment, use Bootstrap's flex box classes and as I mentioned earlier, try to avoid custom spacing or margins. Everything you need and should use comes with bootstrap, they have a wide varity of classes to use and for this project it should be enough.

On the flip side I’d recommend dropping bootstrap and only using custom css. Frameworks abstract logic away which is bad when you’re learning

CSS has full support for flex box and grids - really no modern need for bootstrap anymore

Absolutly true and if OP is very new to this topic this should be the way! I'm happy that Im through this shit already because I absolutly hate css and flexbox without any grid framework. Good luck tho

I started again, using your advice, all content now uses flex box properties, though the stand image needs to be fixed. I hope it looks better, keep the suggestions coming.

Pick a color palette and stick to that. I think you killed some pixels in my screen with those bright colors.

Yes brother, display:flex is such a game changer.
A little off topic here, but back in the day before flex was widely supported, we'd have to use float (or display:table) to make something stick left or right, and then make a div to clear the float.. Now you can just margin-left:auto in a flex container and achieve that in one line, hell ya

Question; I noticed the design you are showcasing currently is static html based on the navigation bar

Do you plan on writing a whole cms or is "reactcms" just a name for a skin you are making to an existing cms?

Cheers, and enjoy your journey with CSS, it's becoming a more valuable skill as we go forward. AI can generate scripts and be a programmer but no AI will ever be able to design like a human, period!
