Hey Devbest, If you wanted to create a custom logo for your hotel, heres how.

First find a font you'd like to use (download the files from

or any other font website, and import them into photoshop)

Figure out your sizing (reference a findretros banner to see if it will fit)

Write your text as usual, write click and press "None" to disable font smoothing, for pixelated effect.

Put a stroke on your layer (right click, Blending options at the top 1px outside, lighter colour than your base colour)

Then create a new layer and move it below the text, merge the two layers

This way when you use magic wand, you can select the transparent corners as they will now be a different shade from your lighter stroke. delete what is selected.

Duplicate your text and pick a darker colour and paint it using paint bucket, move it below your brighter text (in layer list)

Move it 1px below the light text, duplicate dark text and move it 1px down again, merge the two dark layers, then duplicate your MERGED dark layer and move it down 2px

Merge your two text layers, then use the marquee tool to separate your letters a few px (for stroke)
Blending options, stroke BLACK this time
Then create a new layer, different colour that you aren't using, merge the two together and then use magic wand to select the other colour, and the transparent stroke corners
Delete what is selected

Now you can stop here, but these next steps are for extra detail

Spoiler: Light/Shading

Create a new layer, grab your pencil tool and select a DARK GREY colour
Colour the parts you think would be hit by light, angles, bottom etc

After that, select your drawn layer,
Click Normal, and find Linear Dodge (Add)
After selecting linear dodge you should see your colours turn to a lightened version of your darkest colour, if its too light, disable linear dodge and play with your dark grey, the lighter it is, the more it lightens. you can also play with you darker colour by changing it on your text layer.

And there you have it, shaded text

Spoiler: Gradient

Select two colours, your base colour and a slightly darkened version of it

Using marquee tool, select what you think is the middle point of your text, use your dark colour (press x or click the ui button)

Use Paint bucket to colour your selected area

Press M to make sure you aren't moving your text, Move the selected area down 1px, press X again to get to your lighter colour, and paint bucket again

Then down again, paint bucket your dark colour, THEN TWICE DOWN, do your light colour again

Then down once again, then paste your dark colour

And there you have it a gradient.

Before saving, move your letters closer together again, usually leaving 1px in-between or 2px if you wish to have a white border (copy same steps)
