OK fags.

I've started university and in my first year, we will be programming in Java -- I've been interested in programming in this language for a while but never got round to it because I'm a 'PHP fag'.

What I want is basically a head start before I start my Java programming for real, what do you Java 'pros' suggest I start with. What is the best debugger or whatever?

And more importantly, how the fuck do I execute a Java file?

Thanks,

Khalil

Mark, i'd suggest you contact people with some serious experience with java, such as: Alex (Quackster), Zak & others that are all over DevBest, if they can't help i suggest you start getting tutorials from all over the internet and/or join real lessons (in real). Good luck.

Use Eclipse. It has it's own version of IntelliSense, makes it very helpful for quickly referencing a class or fixing mistakes etc.
