I've never tried to use SSH on a Mac, but give this a shot:

Open your Mac Terminal and edit:

ssh username@computer name or IP address

For example, if I wanted to connnect to my Linux VPS I'd type: sudo ssh [email protected]
(hence I use: "root" the account that has the highest priority.)

Open Remote Desktop Connection
Type IP
Connect to "Administrator"
Type Password
Remember Login
Login Securly
and you're in.

I'm not sure this would work. Linux VPS rarely have GUI's pre-installed, thus making a connection via RDP is impossible.

First of all, Linux server use ROOT as the username unless the config is changed by the host. Secondly, You would have to install the GUI and all that crap. You can't fucking RDP a linux server before installing the software and all the things, unless its already pre-installed.
OFT: Third, BUY A LINUX SERVER and try to RDP it without anything installed, yourself. Come back when you failed.
