Wow, one of my first layouts ever looked exactly like that back 2006. It had the gold colors and everything. However mine wasn't coded - I used Piczo

Anyways, you should consider using expandable boxes, etc. Maybe even trying something like Adobe Fireworks to create templates, instead of Paint. Regardless, it's good for a newbie in this field.
