I was aiming for a contemporary design, which isn't bright and colourful like Jammy's.

Adils layout is good but it looks bad because the design is simple but the coding is good

It may not be perfect, needs to be cleaned up.

For a first layout I think this looks really good, maybe soften the corners and indent some of the text. My favourite is the green with Ubuntu font

Personally, I'd say add some text padding.

Try to make the colours a little less basic and use some nicer fonts,
but yno what
