F# is a language from Micro$oft (yes, the very same M$ that brought you wonders such as windows vista, windows 10, internet explorer, activex, vba, vb.net...)
It's designed primarily as a functional language (if you haven't heard of functional languages, go look them up, very nice), BUT, it interops very nicely with the .NET runtime, so you can use VB.NET and C# alongside F# code!

I've been playing around with it recently and it's a breath of fresh air compared to stuff like Java, JS and C#
A few big boys like Credit Suisse use it in their applications. It's even been used to balance the generation schedule for the UK power station fleet (
