Downvote System

I think there should be a downvote system similar to Stack Overflow in our coding sections / Help and Support sections.

If a certain thread reaches 10 downvotes, it should be automatically locked for moderator review to be re-opened and if the thread gets re-opened should be perm. open and not be able to be re-locked from voting.

*Makes multiple accounts and downvotes advertisement thread because they're triggered they got banned*

*Gets friends to downvote threads that are rival hotels or people I don't like*

They wouldn't apply to the Server Advertisement section?

Once a thread gets closed though, if someone does troll downvote (It needs 10 to begin with) but if staff see that its a valid thread, they override the closing of the post.

Lol? That doesn't make sense. What is the point in having it for Help & Support, if it's not a valid thread, simply just report it, easy, simple, what use of this system would it help the "Help & Support section"

Actually it does. We as staff can always use community feedback. If something get's downvoted a high amount of times, we might need to take action.

I do see a few downsides. First of all, I don't think a plugin like this exists for XenForo. The other being the backlash it can have. As in, users getting mad at staff for still allowing something or a lot of people abusing the system.

Understandable, but if this was to come about, why not just use another like system plugin that has like/dislike/laugh/etc, there's one out there, rather than creating a new plugin. That is if this request gets approved.

XenForo already has that feature, @bigdawg is just waiting for all the current plugins to be compatible with 2.1

Because this can be abused. Like's are in general positive. There's not much wrong with it. But if people are simply gonna abuse dislike emoticon's which MODs can do nothing about it, that's not really something that adds to the community. It can even make the forums more toxic then it already is.

I understand what you mean, but thats like the police saying they won't investigate home robberies, because the public will get mad because alot of criminals will still be around who just dont do home robberies, when the desired result would be to get as many as possible in prison instead of none, sorry if thats not clear to understand.

That's actually an example in which it's the other way around, so I don't fully get it
