Database issue

Hi all

I am hosting my database off a windows vps and my cms off a linux server atm to try something how do i go about making it connect to the database as ive done the config file under management and changed the localhost bit to the servers ip address but it still says unable to connect to mysql

Is there anything im missing?

Are you using Xampp?

If not, you would need Microsoft Web Platform '

You would need to install MySQL 5.1 or different versions, it will ask you to make a password and then it should be able to connect.

If you are using xampp, it is your MySQL port, try opening the port.

In Navicat create a new user what has permission to everything and make a specific host (Linux IP) accessible. It should then work using a custom username and password.
