Can I put a Socket am3 in a gateway GM5474 Motherboard?

The motherboard that computer comes with is the ECS MCP61P-AM, which is an AM2 motherboard.
Unfortunately, AM3 and AM3+ CPUs will not normally work in an AM2 board.

However, I've heard of some people getting it to work. You could try it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Although, it's your money.
