CAD stands for a combination of words like "computer-aided design," with "assisted" and "drafting" standing as alternate meanings for the letters "A" and "D." CAD is the use of computer technology for designing objects. CAD can be traced as far back as the 1960s when the aircraft and automotive industries began to use computers to design parts. With the advent of personal computers (PCs) by the 1980s, software for CAD was developed, and eventually CAD use became widespread. is most commonly associated with animation in movies. However, it is used in a wide range of industries for product or parts design. This includes the automotive, shipbuilding, aircraft, and aerospace and architectural design industries. CAD is a powerful animation design tool, software specializing in state-of-the-art products for the professional. Complex and intricate designs always demand viewing at various angles and different perspectives, to get a better understanding of it. Computer-aided design or drafting software is a convenient computer program allowing users to draw objects with exact precision. It is used for multiple applications at home and in the workplace. Video game animators use CAD animation programs to bring characters to life. Animators construct three-dimensional objects and plot paths to simulate movement using CAD techniques. Drawing and creating storyboards are also important features for creating video games, all of which may be done with the aid of CAD programming. Graphic designers rely on CAD programs to visually communicate in print and multimedia. Designs for illustrations and advertisements are drafted using layout principles and design concepts achieved with CAD.
