Got bored, did a thing. Pretty rudimentary little console app, but it's something I'll find useful so I figured I'd share it.

C# source:
Compiled binary:

Feel free to give it a try! Improvements are welcome, but honestly I just did this out of boredom. It's not meant to be pretty. I'm not 100% certain but I'm assuming this will NOT work on the new Windows 8/10 Skype app, only on the older desktop version. But fuck Metro.

Or just don't complicate it and use this .... It's easier for people who don't know much .. I hate when people always come with solutions on other's solutions.. Start your own thread and make a tutorial a tip :)

In what way is modifying your hosts file complicated? Over complicating things would be writing a script just to change some values in an XML file to 0.

You have a valid point, but for someone like your cousin (or something) that doesn't know shit about XML, hosts file, etc; this would be a great way to disable skype ads.

No... And if I do download an executable it's from a trusted source or is digitally signed with a certificate. Much different then downloading a .exe file off a forum from someone who has 4 posts.
Well I mean the source is included but i get what you're saying
