Bought VPS...

Hello there. I just bought a VPS and when the payment was completed they asked me to copy front and back of my government issued ID.. Why do I have to do that? I feel very insecure on this...

Hosting company's do this to avoid fraud orders and chargebacks.

Who did you purchase a VPS with? OVH?

I bought a VPS from Hostek. They will not proceed with setting up my order until I do this. Should I do it?

@Test4rN it's only to protect them. No viable hosting company will release your information to anyone. However the decision is yours, be aware if you're using it for illegal activity they may forward your ID to authorities.

No problem. Any information you give is always at your discretion but I don't see them using your ID outside of its requirement.
