I recommend you change it to Windows Server 2012 R2 , as unless you plan to use a Java based emulator, you won't be able to run it on a Linux machine.

Operating System is genuinely based on personal preference, but as said Linux isn't ideal unless you have a Java-based emulator or an emulator that can run on a Linux machine. Windows Server 2012 R2 is the best operating system in my opinion for running IIS, etc, Windows Server 2008 is outdated, and Windows 2016 is just meh, I don't like 2016.
