Just because it's not a shooter, doesn't mean you can't make a shooter..
It has the aspects of a First Person Video Game, it shows that you can create awesome games in Java.

Java = CPU hog for graphic intensive things. Also Java's UI toolkits are terrible. Stick with C# for graphics.

Yeh i know that, hence the reason i gave you a list of shit loads of game engines.
Some of them are 2D/3D, commercial/open source.

You do realise the 'shooter' aspects of the game you will need to create yourself? Or find an engine which includes this (doubtful)
And by platforms i mean, Windows, Mac, Linux, Mobile, iOS etc...
