All fixed now, it was an operating system error on my webserver which caused the external vars file to become corrupt meaning only people with cached vars could enter. Thanks for the help though guys.

I'd agree with 0taku Hosting's VPS. Wouldn't go with thrust, too much downtime + if you receive a DDoS they'll disconnect your VPS for 24 hours so that it doesn't affect the rest of their network instead of preventing it.
