question about server i host

Hi guys,

I have a question.

I order a hosting and domain to launch a habbo hotel.
now i whas reading the forum, and i seen that you need a vps?
I order a 200gig server but i think thats not a vps.
Is this ok? or do i need to change it.

yes need a server (vps)


Hosting only serves to keep the site online.
the vps server keeps the emulator on 24 hours

only with the hosting you cannot turn on the emulator only the cms will be online

with vps the emulator stays on and your players can play whenever they want

now you can only use vps for both
host the cms and use the emulator

Yeah you’ll need a Windows server to host the website and run the emulator on the same side.

What you need is a "VPS" Virtual Private Server.
A VPS typically comes in the flavour of Linux (Ubuntu server, Cent OS, Arc). However as others have pointed out they also come in the flavour of Windows.

Just as you have Window, Mac or Linux as your day-to-day operating system, servers comes in these flavours as well.

What flavour should I choose?
It depends ;-) - It depends on what Habbo retro software you're expecting to host, there is many guides floating around specifically for Windows.

What size should I get?
It depends ;-) - It depends on the amount of users your expect, what performance you expect.

Great stuff! Check out the tutorial and releases section and give it a go yourself, if/when you get stuck just drop a thread on here I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.
