How is the averaging done?

Hey, this is just to help me understand how the average stuff works on findretros;

I added up the votes from each day and although fresh has had voting off for a while, and to my calculations their average is less than 30. What I don't understand is how they are still on the first page, does it take an extra day for average to update?

My guess would be it averages the total votes over total time to where you are in the ranking.

Probably because Fresh used to score 100's if not 1000's of votes and it's deteriorating over time thus making it shoot down the list. Don't worry Rain, I'm sure you'll over take them.

Uh, well. It's a average of the last 7 days? I'm not sure if it takes into account the present day votes thus far, or the last recorded date, but Fresh deserves to be on the front page with their current statistics;

(10+12+12+13+15+24+689+0)/7 (votes per day, divided by 7 days).

0 being today, as I'm not sure if it uses the last record or todays, but that would be a 110 average which grants them that position.

Fresh is a tricky one, as it's obviously a dead hotel but I think he doesn't like to distribute his traffic through to FindRetros, but at the same time he has not a great deal of traffic to start with, so he randomly puts it on/off.

As it stands right now;
(360 + 370 + 320 + 360 + 336 + 334 + 362 + 223) / 7 = 380

If we take into account todays votes, if your votes for today last week were 334 that'd average out to 398.
(360 + 370 + 320 + 360 + 336 + 334 + 362 + 344) / 7 = 398

Which is why I said I'm unsure if todays result is cached until the day is over, I imagine it is. Could be wrong but not sure.
 
Scrap that, I just realised I have 8 days there & are working it out by 7... Didn't bother to count the graph until realising that the average is higher than what it should be.

Looks like it's adding up 8 days of votes and diving by 7 days, perhaps an oversight.

Not a biggie in any way, just noticed that things didn't add up, so thought i'd bring it up. Wasn't attacking any hotels in my query, nor findretros itself.

I was thinking this too, If i didn't need the click traffic from findretros (I log it, you get a lot of clicks from that shit), i wouldn't be on there. If you have just come from habbo, you've signed up, and you're redirected to findretros.com - it could be a bit suspicious to the end user. I mean, although you just need to hit a button, habbo have brainwashed their users into thinking retros are scamsites - my guess is it would cause people to leave.

Uh, our voting is enabled during specific hours.

We average about 3,000 a day through to FindRetros, used to be about 5,000 prior to that.

Just realised you meant clicks from FindRetros... Not sure, we've never logged that. I only have it on to give Josh some traffic. I don't think it helps us as much as it used to. But yeaaaahhhh.

You should log where your clicks come from it’d be cool to see how much traffic findretros brings you.

Have you got google webmaster tools? I think habboons later success is largely from its SEO for habbo-related searches. When you search ‘habbo’, it pops up on the first page. I use google webmaster tools/logging to pinpoint where most of my traffic comes from so I can put more effort into whichever place gets the most web hits.

It's not as low as some people think really. Ours was 808 clicks in the last week, Habboon likely get a lot more as they're top across all the tags.

Yeah i get about 400 weekly. The higher on the list the more you get. I found when i got to second place with peace a while back i was getting about 200-300 daily findretros clicks
