[HALP!] Website Design Question

So I'm making a new website, and I want a sidebar on the left side of the page, where when you click on an option in the sidebar, it opens another sidebar to the right of the original sidebar.

So let's say on the first sidebar, it lists all the countries of the world. I want to be able to click on a country (let's say the United States) and another sidebar would pop up showing all of the states. Has anyone ever seen something like this done, and can share the link/screenshot?

I'm designing my website's layout right now, and I need ideas on how it would look before I go along with it.
