Finnish software developer Sulake has opened its social platform Habbo Hotel to game developers with a new API.
The company is now calling for Finnish developers and video game schools to join in their game development contest, which is open for applicants right now. Three best games will be released on all 11 of Habbo Hotel’s language versions after the contest comes to an end in December. The API will be made available for developers outside Finland after the competition.
Studios developing for Habbo Hotel can take advantage of the platform’s own currency, Habbo-coins for payment purposes. The service is said to be the world’s largest virtual community for teenagers with its 5 million monthly unique users from 150 countries.
The API was beta-tested by Finnish Seepia and English Remode earlier this year, and the studios’ games are available for Habbo users during September.
Finnish developers can sign up for the API at dev.habbo.com.
