I'm not the best designer and often don't use most designs I create, but here's another one I've been working on over the past few hours.

As always, the content box is rushed as you can tell because I hate designing content boxes.

Maybe add a gradient background inside the search input box?
Border shadow on the navigation text, header, hyperlinks?
Box shadow on the content box?
Content box header?
Paragraphs under the content box header?

I've not coded it as yet, it's just a design so no hyperlinks are done.

I've closed the PSD down so I'll consider the suggestions when I reopen it =]

Very nice. As you said the content box is bit sloppy. The area below navigator is a sub-navigator right?

Thanks. And as of now it's just a placeholder for the search bar, I'm hoping to put something there to fill up the space. Maybe a news marquee, I'm not sure as yet.
