I opened mine with my local in a few days, sent a few forms off and was good to go!

Where I bank I opened my chequeing account same day I went to go open it. Very quick process if you bring the right identification and sign the forms properly

It should take less than an hour, if you have all the documents.

Usually you need two proofs of identity
  • Social Security card
  • State issued ID / driver's license
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport
and proof of address, like a bill.

Finally, you might need an opening deposit, depending on the bank.

I just had to fill in a few forms and then waited a few days to recieve my debit card etc, so overall it is quite a quick process.
