Why was DevBest offline this weekend for an extended period of time?
As you may have noticed this weekend, we were offline for a little over 24 hours. This was due to an issue completely out of our control, in which an upstream provider for our datacenter had a fiber cut, resulting in a complete data center outage (due to there being no other point for Internet access), as they had two lines with the same company.
What will we be doing to make sure this doesn't happen again?
We will be waiting for our datacenter to release their RFO (reason for outage), and we will go from there. They have already announced that they will be dropping their current fiber provider, and will be switching to two different companies for separate fiber lines. With that being said, it's possible that we will make a switch in the coming weeks to a new home, but that's to be decided later on once we know everything.
