Fresh Server - R63 Pre Shuffle, C#

This Emulator served us on Fresh for many, many years and was proven to hold over 2,000 users online with no lag at all. It's features are too numerous to list, and we have no clean database for it.

If you want to construct a hotel with this server, start with a clean Phoenix database and go from there. It should mostly work with a blank Phoenix database, as we migrated from Phoenix to Butterfly with little to no database changes.

This server can be considered feature complete for R63, pre shuffle standards.

--------------- PSA ---------------
Don't mind the terrible, shitty code. At one point it was maintained solely by me and I only retained the sourcecode, and during some inevitable retro drama - the source was decompiled from the executable and a bunch of shitty developers coded on the top of it, unfortunately including myself once the decompiled trash had been developed too far to go back to the original codebase. So that is why nothing is named, there's useless checks everywhere, something any developer has seen with decompiled code.

Credits:

Maritnmine

Without Maritnmine, there would be no open source Butterfly. Thank you for your huge contribution. Without this Emulator I would never have learned C#.

Divide

Recoded every wired item in the game. A considerable undertaking, even though he had 1 really badly coded task handling every wired in the game for over 1,500 online users. Unfortunately he did this great work on a decompiled codebase which in the end made it impossible to move back to the old, organised and pretty code.

Jonteh

I spent an unknown amount of years improving, fixing, occasionally breaking and generally working on this server. It was for a while my pride and joy, until I had my balls cut off and conceded to working on a decompiled version of it. I hated it from that point on, but money is money so I kept working on it.

Other developers

A bunch of other cretins were unfortunately, allowed to work on this server. They did more harm than good but still, some good things were accomplished. Y'all made me alot of money as I had to fix so many of your issues.

Muscab

This server is released with this fine mans blessing. He spent an incredible amount of money toward development of this server, many pizzas, and many ubereats and even more McDonald's breakfasts. He had to put up with a stupid amount of derps, bugs, and issues while they were worked out. Kudos for the patience, but we got there in the end.

Closing notes

There is zero support for this emulator. It reached the end of it's life in January this year, and unfortunately we don't care about this beast of a server anymore. It's stable to do anything.

Sorry about not having a database, but our DB has undergone many many changes since moving to a new emulator this year, so I wouldn't be able to provide one even if I wanted to.

never thought a popular hotel would release any of its assets but this is cool.

I agree, never expected to see this.

Anyways nice release, hope to see another r63 hotel surface again, too many r63b ones out there.

What's the point? r63b has way more features than r63 and it's not like you can use the nostalgia factor with r63 since it was still used recently.

I agree. Opening a brand new R63 retro would be ludicrous, it’s not old enough to reminisce or good enough to compete against heavily edited Plus or Arcturus forked emulators.

However, it’s still nice for @Muscab to release this for us.

On the other hand this is the cleanest, most stable R63 emulator we’ve ever seen with the amount of features that have been added over the years, definitely worth the download and setup just to appreciate the work.

This server was not released to "compete" with new retros. It was released because we don't use it anymore, and in the spirit of sharing. Use it, don't use it, who cares. No point fighting about it.

I appreciate it, especially with the community these days. Thank you!

I assume this emulator works with the standard Phoenix swfs, just in case anyone is looking for a pack,

Here you go

Jonty finally released work without a shell!

/s

There are what could be considered backdoors in this, although not used for that purpose on Fresh. We have a List of Super Administrators hard coded in to the server that have full access to every feature, locked or otherwise. ButterflyEnvironment.cs will be of interest to anyone wanting to actually use this server (not likely, though)

As someone who knew Jonty very well at some point. He's always put alot of effort into the projects he worked on and even took the time to teach me alot of things when I first started out.

Whether this emulator is old and outdated doesn't matter, it's not used anymore and could've never been released to begin with and I'm sure some people might find some of the features desirable.

Keep up the good work.

Considering Jonty put most of his effort into shelling the community while his hotel actually had users on it, he's never been in it for the experience, fun or joy. He just wanted money and destroyed the community to make it. Multiple shelled releases, backdoors, hotels ddosed endlessly. Let's not praise him because he's releasing a server with bad code from a dozen developers after it's no longer useful. Boon released a good stable server, while it was still useful to them and never destroyed the community to get there.

One good deed will never undo a history of bad deeds

This isn't 2013, everyone's done things they're not proud off. Instead of living in the past and judging people for things that happened years ago, move on. It might be hard to believe people change, but he's had many newer releases where he's been respectful and released clean code.

Either way, some people still might find this useful and may use it for referencing code. I doubt anyone's going to download this and use it in a public environment, but having something is better than nothing, even if it's worthless to you.

I doubt any of the code is practical to developers who are seasoned. I worry for a beginner who will end up downloading this and end up having a few dozen backdoors. Both Jonty and Muscab both have a horrible reputation of this.

I'm just a realist. Imagine ignoring years of destroying the community, projects, hotels and even pedophilia just to be awarded upon leaving for giving us his trash.

Ha. I was waiting for this. Let me break down your incorrect statements one-by-one.

I shelled one single release, over many years of releases by me. Not for money or users (I had far enough of both) but because my buddy George and I thought it would be amusing. Which it wasn't. Wish I had those chatlogs still. Not to mention, it was like 7 or 8 years ago. I also released a lot of shit for free, helped many people with their problems, and even helped teach some people to code, or at least how to start teaching themselves.

I was very active on my own hotel and built a massive community in a short amount of time not by screwing with people, but with blood, sweat and tears, as well as teaching myself to code in order to pioneer new features to make my retro unique and more enjoyable than the competition. I was 15 when I started Zap Hotel, and most definitely started it for the joy of a retro. Being around since 2007 when the main purpose of making a hotel was for enjoyment does that to a person.

I never ddosed a single hotel that didn't either
  • a. Advertise endlessly on my retro despite first politely asking them to stop or warning them what would happen;
  • b. Get on my retro just to talk shit for no good reason (Similar to what most every large hotel owner has had to put up with over the years, also Chris you're guilty of this, although you were just a "html hacker" back in those days)
  • c. Boot my hotel and come online bragging about it

I contributed far more to this community in a few years than at least 90% of the retro population did in a decade. Sure, a couple bad decisions here and there, but who doesn't make silly choices when they're a teenager. Holding a grudge for that long is pretty unbecoming.

You're right about the code of this emulator though, it's terrible. But like was explained, unfortunately I wasn't the only person working on this, and it was de compiled from an exe so what can you expect. It's like basing an emulator off de compiled Phoenix Emulator.

Also, I wouldn't consider the Plus Emulator open source release stable by any decent standards. I ran it on Fresh for a month and we had a plethora of problems on an extremely large database, ended up moving to Comet server. The things I had to do to Plus in order to make it work efficiently with a large database (>100GB) would blow your mind, but unfortunately most people don't get to have that experience to learn what is actually stable vs what is not.

Unfortunately the English community is the only one that sees me this way, my work is perfectly good by foreign standards, to the point where they are emailing, discording and PMing me on forums almost on a daily basis to either buy work I have made, or simply asking for help as they know I will help them. As I will anyone who is willing to learn and asks for help.

I totally understand your point of view, but it's pretty outdated. This community is dead; we should be happy anyone is releasing anything at all.

Also, you should never accuse somebody of pedophilia unless you have concrete evidence. It's a vile, disgusting accusation and if you were to falsely accuse somebody of that to their face, you'd likely not be able to talk for some time. I'll have you know I'm a married man, it's unbelievable people have to defend against this shit on the internet but I have undergone many background checks for not only immigration purposes but also for employment purposes and I'm pretty sure if one was a pedophile, the FBI would know about it. If a two-bit police force can catch Habmoon, they can catch any other disgusting vermin on the internet.

This will be my last post on any of these topics. I will not give credence to a negative outlook by such a negative person. When you grow up, you may realize that having such a negative outlook on people doesn't put you in the best state of mind, nor will it merit you happiness. I hope you aren't such a cynical person forever, and I'm pretty positive you aren't even, except for on the internet where you can safely sit behind a keyboard without any repercussions. Good luck.
