My PC's gone and killed itself.

Hello! So, lets get started.

Today I decided to clean out one of my PC's, and was going to turn it into a local server. So I sprayed the shit out of it with compressed air, etc, etc. After taking everything out and putting it back in, the computer started making this loud non-stop whining, and would not boot. After cursing and screwing with the PC, I managed to get it to boot properly. But only #4 of the 4 RAM slots works. 1A, 2A, 1B, all dead. only 2B (#4) Works. So instead of 8GB (all the RAM cards are 2gb each) of RAM, I have 2. Everything boots fine unless I move or add cards to any other RAM slot.

So uhhh, any ideas?

Can provide photos, if you want. or a video. on my cell...

Take a picture of the ram slots emptied from above, and then one from the side (So you can see the motherboard's connection to the slots). and check each individual DIMM to see if it's not the DIMM that's broken instead. Was the whining high pitched? or did it change pitch? or maybe it beeped?

Thanks .

This happened to my friends dad. He was playing around with his mo. and it beeped. He said it was broken or something.
Not sure if it was to do with the RAM slot / cards. But i'd double check.

The pitch was a memory error, one long continous whine because it wouldn't recognize the RAM being there.
1 of the 4 RAM slots work, and the PC boots once the RAM is in the 1 working slot.

I'll check if the connection to the motherboard is a bit off though.

Are you Mr. Weed?
*nods*
I'm sorry to inform you but, your DIMM slot was killed in a tragic rebuilding accident...
*Starts crying*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aww, and the poor guy was only 5 years old, middle age even!

:p Nah, this is cool. I'll just get a new one, a new motherboard/RAM slot is too much of a hastle.

Sooo uhhh, solved?
