I type in /setspawn and it says unknown command.. I downloaded the essential things.

/setspawn probably is a "PlgSetSpawn" plugin.

Did you reload the server after installing essentials? Also, if you have multiverse installed, that command will no longer work, instead you'll need to use /mv setspawn
