There could be multiple reasons, but the two most common I would say, is either a faulty web.config file OR some php code somewhere that is totally fked up and thus causing the 500 Server Internal Error code.

Have you installed the essentials such as URL Rewrite etc

URL Rewrite is a must if you are using rewrites in the web.config which you are probably doing.
