Do you think there will be a new OS in the future?

I think that we won't se much more from Microsoft, instead they will update Windows 10 as someone abow said. Linux might just keep coming with more pentesting.
"Linux" isn't in charge of the pentesting ditros, that would be Offensive Sec.
And if you're talking about Kali, that's just a modified version of Debian.

What I mean is that we probably won't see nothing special from Linux itself, just private distros, pentesting & security distros like Arch and so on.

No one in this thread has mentioned Android as a possibility, of course it uses a linux kernel and designed primarily for touchscreens, but anyone else think it may become a fully fledged OS one day? Seeing as Alphabet is trying to take over the world and all that.

You want to see the most unstable operating system become the primary one for all devices?

If anyone would innovate the game in the OS market it'll definitely be Apple, Windows is just constantly doing UI touch ups and is adapting Linux modules to try to even the playing field a bit more. If anything, the concept of a new OS being primarily based around touch is a long ways away seeing the love for keyboards and so on.

Considering Windows 10 is the only OS that allows for DirectX12 support, it's rather safe to say that in terms of PC gaming Windows is here to stay. But it's cool to see Vulkan and OpenGL still being very viable apis for games on Linux.
