I've just purchased a laptop from HP today, it seems to be incredibly slow and I do not know why. The laptop was apparently presetup by a company & they was talking about something to do with a recovery disk being made.

Anyway, I went ahead and baught it. It's very slow but I can't decide weather its the specs or not. Here are my specs:

What I'll be using it for:

- Minecraft
- Less demanding games like Minecraft
- Surfing the web, multitasking

However it takes ages (3-6 seconds to open up task manager) and sometimes it keeps freezing. I did not expect this from a brand new laptop.

Is it the specs that are the issue or is it just the computer I have and should get it replaced?

Kind regards,

4 GB RAM in 2017, lol.

All your memory is probably filled up and is getting paged on that 5400 RPM harddrive.
4 GB RAM is like the bare minimum for Win10 (they say 1 or 2, but that's BS).

Do you recon its a good buy for £399? Usually it costs £600... Also can you upgrade ram on laptops?

I wouldn't call it a good buy, but no one is going to deny that it's a better purchase at 399 than 600.. not really a desirable laptop though.

A second-hand ThinkPad would've been better.

Lenovo one is, yes. You guys have shitty deals in the UK. For that money I could get a much more powerful laptop here in the US.
