Do you all think Habbo Retros are dieing. It seems like in these days you can't find a cool brand new Habbo Retro to play on, reason i say brand new is because when you just jump into a big one you have to play to catch up with the other users.. Please give me your opinions, Do you think Retros are dieing.

Kids aren't playing Habbo these days and the old users are growing up, that's why it's declining.

Habbo itself has been losing users for years, hence why retro's do too.

In 2020, you could see a revival in my opinion. Habbo, if they were smart would advertise their game like a racehorse when the new HTML5 version comes. As for now, they are dying. The only good retro out there is Habboon because of their active development team and their established name. As @JMG said, the older users are leaving and moving on and kids now a days frankly don't know what Habbo is due to their shit advertisement practices. Habbo has a ton of potential to become popular again, especially with the younger kids. Almost every one of my younger cousins and their friends have an iPhone or a Computer now. Back when I played, I had to find a computer to play on starting out, which was sometimes difficult.

Most kids want to play 3D games or something what everybody else is playing like Fortnite. Habbo these days target audience is probably 16+ sadly lol

Also, all of the big development team have grown up so there's no huge releases like they used to be.

Everybody is using the same resources to make their retro's. That's probably why.

I don't think HTML5 will make a lot of difference for the user base. A lot of people game on mobile, and they didn't really got further with that either.

They've been dying for a while now. Boon and Fresh are the only ones that get 100+ users (If I'm not mistaken), and majority are sub-10 users nowadays. There used to be many hotels that had an active user base of at least 30 users, which was enough for a good community.

Habboon probably still peak 600+ and Fresh 300-400. Although it has come down over the years they’ve probably banned a hell of a lot of users.

When Habboon unbanned all of their users for Christmas once there was like 1,300 online :p

Definitely but people have to realise that Habbo retros is one of those where there is limitations on what can be done to make it unique from others. Usually it's the odd "updated furni", "new vip packages" etc and it can get boring for the average retro player. And then there's the factor of people growing up and realising that they're wasting a lot of time playing a outdated game. The excuses could go on forever but I think there will always be a retro left even for years to come.

When you look at non english retros there are several still with around 1k users on daily. Yeah I agree most developers are not working on retros anymore. When all retros have the same things on them it just gets boring for the users you need good Community Management and a good Economy and Features that users are going to enjoy. Most retro owners don't bother changing the catalog and keeping the game up to date, fixing bugs etc... and I think users will only enjoy a retro which is stable and has a welcoming and fun community.

I don't think HTML Habbo will change anything it depends how you manage your hotel not what you run it with.

A lot of people will play for casinos, economy, to get Staff or because they've got tons of friends in the community - although a lot of people are leaving I'm finding it harder to login to retro's and enjoy them these days.

RP's will always do well if they're well coded and run properly, because it's a different style to the Habbo retro.

It's also quite fun to setup a Habbo retro, especially if you're still in school. It's another great way of learning/experience with databases, web servers and knowing basic general things (which is great for somebody who is 15/16).

I suppose people are just bored of the same old hotel's offering exactly the same things, like I said before, people aren't playing Habbo anymore. There's most cost effective games out there that people can play with their friends. To spend money on credits to buy HC club and furniture is a waste of money, so probably people don't give it the time of day which will result in them not interested or heard about retro's either.

Habbo & retros have been dying slowly for years, as we've all seen. But we rely on Habbo - who don't exactly do any marketing anymore (or very little of).

If Habbo do go HTML5 (doubtful?) it won't make a difference (without marketing), if anything they'd spike in numbers from those who are aware of this checking it out, but then it'd drop.

Let's say they do reveal a plan - or do go HTML5 (something that costs thousands in development costs), then I'd expect them to surely put some money into marketing due to the costs of moving to HTML5., thus causing growth for them.

Who knows, let's wait and see.

They are not dying, the retro community is dying. I've seen over the years that new hotels only advertising withing a tiny portion of the internet, the retro community. If you want it remain successful for a decent period, you need to surpass the retro community and advertise to MMORPG's in general and other gaming platforms/bulletins/chat rooms etc. Personally, I am opening a new hotel with the sole aim of serving the community with a fun and interactive experience (both site and client) with features such as a built-in forum, built-in social network (including messenger), a story upload system (Snapchat based), multi-language support, RP features alongside your regular retro experience. Small, interactive features will do you wonders. We do not plan to open until the back end of November but if you are intrigued , please join our Discord -https://discord.gg/WZBU4NCHp6
no rp will top peakrp, but gl
