If you are running it on localhost, search for a reCaptcha key for localhost, if you are running it on a VPS Go to www.google.com/recaptcha and register a new key to your IP, in both cases, go to the config file and change it to the right one...

Man, it's simple. Add a collum in users table called "theme" add a requisition in your global.php to check this collum and redirect to the themed version of your site.... You can put a simple submit button to get the information to fill the collum theme like "dark" or "white".
The problem isn't in setting the look, but in the fact that Brain uses an external site to compose the avatar look, wich is avatar-retro, well the site is down so it won't show properly. You will need to add another avatar creator to the CMS or create yours...
