Hello,
I am looking for an active development team to work on a RP with me. This will not be a paid position. However, all of the income the RP makes (through VIP sales, etc.) will be split between the developers - if for any reason you do not put your part in then your rate may be reduced or you may not receive anything.

The team I am looking for
  • Web Developer - To create the website and in-game UI elements which will be used through web sockets. A template has been constructed for web sockets. A web developer is not someone who edits a body background and re-releases the project as if they created it.
  • Graphics Designer - To create in-game assets; furniture, effects, room ads (optional), etc. You will also be able to assist the web developer with any requests they may have.
  • Emulator Developer - To assist me with development - mostly when I'm not on but also to keep me company.
You must have experience.

If you are interested just hit me up with a PM. The aim for this project is to get it up and running as fast as possible with many features.

Thanks,
Core

I am curious on what you are going to be using web sockets for that couldn't be done by manipulating the SWF or through RCON.

It is much easier to modify and create user interfaces using HTML rather than having to decompile and recompile the SWF every time you want to make an update. Most compilers will only compile as3 byte code. Additionally, I can not see a suitable method of using rcon as I could either long poll or use some sort of request to execute an rcon command.

If you have any ideas, I'm open to them as not actually started yet.

Just realized you’re looking at creating a role play which makes more sense for usage of web sockets.

No worries man, you’re good since role plays tend to have huge usages of sockets. I was concerned it was for a normal retro that would only use it for something like online user count

Most developers will want to be paid... not just basically being an affiliate and getting a commission of the profits, because let's be honest, they'res a high chance your Habbo retro will just tank.

Yeah, I respect that and I totally understand anyone who doesn't want to get involved - I do not intend to make any money from this project. It is just for something to do in my spare time and all the profits will likely go to the other developers, the server fee's (limited as likely host on my server) and any remaining can go to a charity. Habbo is not a profitable business model so it is not worth investing in. I used to have a retro with around 100-200 users daily and that made around £100 a month ~ if you work that out after server costs I probably made around £50 a month.

To a lot of people in this community that may be a lot because of the younger age range (plus a lot of people do not work). However, if you work that out against the hours that I put in, I probably made £0.05 an hour or something stupid like that :). I can go to work for 5 hours and play about with my thumbs and earn more after tax than a retro would make in a month.
